PES-Architects designs Finland Pavilion for Design Shanghai 2023

PES-Architects is the designer of the Finland Pavilion at Design Shanghai 2023

The architecture echoes that of Finnish summerhouses and seeks to convey Finnish culture, nature and mindset, while offering a peaceful place for contemplation amidst the bustle of the exhibition. The pavilion is composed of a minimalistic cube enclosing the architype of the Finnish pitched-roof summer cabin. Inside, a big communal table invites visitors to gather around Finnish design. Windows representing different eras of Finnish architecture showcase Finnish products and designs – one even contains a hidden seating area for reading or rest.

Design Shanghai is one of the world's most prestigious international design events and Asia's premier design event. Finnish companies and creatives will be presented at the country pavilion at the Design Shanghai Expo from 8 to 11 June 2023. More than 600 exhibitors from 40 countries will participate in the expo, with the number of visitors expected to top 70,000.

The pavilion is organised by the Consulate General of Finland in Shanghai and the Embassy of Finland in Beijing in cooperation with Business Finland. The pavilion will move to Beijing in autumn 2023 for the Design China Beijing event.
